Linguist out and about

Noongar Boodjar Language Centre’s Linguist Denise Smith-Ali was out and about interviewing Elders for Noongar Language documentation. The aim is to record Elders and develop an extensive dictionary in the Noongar Language.

Denise had the opportunity to interview Elder Violet Newman from Ngadju/Nyoongar Clan, Violet is pictured below holding a photograph of her grandfather Murray Newman as one of the many language informants recorded by Norman Tindale.

She continues to travel across Noongar Country where she also had the opportunity to interview Elder Harry Nannup from the Pindjarap Clan. (pictured above)
