Wardandi is a clan of the Noongar Nation in
southwestern Western Australian. The clan’s
traditional land extends southwest from
Bunbury’s Cape Leeuwin along the coast
to Geograph Bay through to the vicinity of
Nannup and Busselton.
There are thought to be 3 dialects in the
Noongar Nation and Wardandi belongs to
the southwestern dialect, Kongal-marawar.
There are very few speakers who are fluent.
Most people have a passive or a partial
understanding of the language of this area.
Sporadic language recording and analysis
was undertaken by pastoralists and linguists
in years gone by. However, further research
continues to retrieve and develop a substantial
database of the language and all clans of the
Southwest.

stories representative of the Wardandi clan.
