Koreng is a clan of the Western Australian Southwest with in the Noongar Nation From Gairdner River to Pallinup (Salt) River; at Bremer Bay; inland to Jeramungup, Pingrup, Nampup (Nyabing), Badgebup and Kibbelup near Broome Hill; south to Stirling Range; at Gnowangerup and Ongerup; west to Cranbrook and Tambellup.
Koreng is inclusive of one of three main dialects that are currently spoken today in Noongar country. The people are non-fluent speakers who have partial and passive understanding of the language.
Work on the language’s recording and analysis for many years, was undertaken by pastoralists and linguists. Further research continues to retrieve and develop a substantial database of the language within all clans of the Southwest. AIATSIS code is W41.
